There are around a thousand inland waterway transporters in Germany today. One of those is the Mnich family of Mannheim. They're the seventh generation to live - and work - on the water.

Their business is transporting grain and feed. They make a decent living of it, even though competition from the big freighters is growing. Torsten, the oldest son, is in training now, and next year he's expected to take the helm.
