The Franconian Forest - The Adventure of Rafting

In the summer, the Wallenfels Rafters Association organizes raft trips every weekend. The River Rodach is dammed for the purpose. When the weir is opened, the water rushes five kilometers through the Franconian Forest. This is how raftsmen used to carry the trunks of felled trees down the Rodach. These days the raft trips serve to preserve the tradition and are very popular with tourists.
