The French Parliament votes to ban the full face veil in public

French lawmakers have voted to ban the burqa, the Islamic garment that covers the entire body. The National Assembly passed the ban by an overwhelming majority, but more than 200 legislators did boycott the vote. The Senate is expected to ratify the law in September. Opponents say that at most 2000 women in France wear the all body veil and that targetting them amounts to discrimination.
