The German football association, or DFB, has reached an out-of-court settlement with an official accused of sexually harassing young referees. Manfred Amerell, who was in charge of appointing referees for top German Bundesliga matches, allegedly made sexual advances to young referees. He also warned them that reporting the incidents could harm their careers. The DFB has been criticised for being too slow to act on the allegations.
