The german parliament agrees on a multi-billion rescue package for the Eurozone

The German parliament has approved legislation which will allow the country to contribute to an emergency rescue package for inebted Euro-zone countries. Chancellor Merkel said the vote sent a strong signal on the European "culture of stability". But her centre-right coalition did not get broad parliamentary backing for the measures.
