The Greek government is facing some resistance at home to its austerity measures

It is now a race against time for Greece. It has a deadline of May 19th to pay back nine billion Euros in debt. The Greek finance minister has lashed out at Tuesday's downgrade of the country's credit rating to 'junk status' - saying the move "does not correspond to real data". He also accused Europe of dragging its feet over the financial rescue package - and is pressing for quick decisions to end the financial uncertainty. But lenders first want to make sure that Athens puts policies place to stabilise its economy. It's not just pressure from outside - the Greek government is also facing some resistance at home to its austerity measures.
