The leaders of Georgia and Russia have agreed in principle to an EU-brokered peace plan aimed at ending the conflict in the breakaway province of South Ossetia. French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been holding talks with leaders in both Russia and Georgia to resolve the fighting which broke out last week. On Tuesday, Russia's President ordered a halt to Russian military operations in the region. +++syn+++
