The music world celebrates the 200th anniversary of polish composer Frédéric Chopin

Frédéric Chopin was not only a great composer, but an exceptional pianist as well. This week, the music world celebrates the 200th anniversary of his birth - and the Poles are celebrating him as a national hero. The anniversary has, of course, prompted a flood of new recordings of his music. Not all of them are brilliant. Experts say only artists who know something about Chopin's life can really do justice to his compositions. His sense of national pride, his troubled relationships with women and his illness are all reflected in his works. Not all musicians understand the complexity of Chopin the Romantic. But now there are a couple of young performers whose interpretations of his work are thrilling the critics. In our special report, we ask how modern musicians interpret Chopin, and what it takes to be a truly exceptional performer of his compositions.
