The Myanmar economy and opium

Myanmar was internationally isolated for many years. While Myanmar’s economy is growing faster since the new government assumed power in 2011 and foreign investments began to pour in, its drug problem is not showing any signs of improvement. Opium cultivation is illegal in Myanmar. But the drugs are not only for farmers often the only way to earn money.
