The online games company Flaregames is a rising star among German start-ups. This year it plans to release eight games for smartphones. Hopes are especially high for the game "Flatmates".

In "Flatmates”, players move into a virtual flat-share. There, they can watch films, go to work and earn money, just like in real life. The distinctive feature is that the game world reacts to smartphone data. When it's really night, the characters in the game go to sleep. And GPS locates the player's current position. Flaregames has only been in existence for a year, but its CEO Klaas Kersting has already attracted eight million euros in investments. Shift met the game's creators.
