The Oder River continues to rise along the German Polish border

Here in Germany, officials are confident that reinforced dikes WILL hold as flooding on the Oder River along the border with Poland approaches its peak. New flood defenses have been further bolstered by thousands of sandbags. Officials in the state of Brandenburg expect the water level to remain high for two or three days before falling. They've issued the highest possible flood warning in the affected areas.
