The Potential Risks of Pain Relievers

Lots of people take over-the-counter pain medicines. But these drugs have a long list of potentially dangerous side-effects, including gastric bleeding, liver damage, and dependence. These problems arise when people take too many of the drugs, or when they combine several different medications. There is also the danger of an overdose.

For example, with the drug paracetamol, the difference between a therapeutic dose and a toxic dose is very slight.
