The Power of the Voice

Kathrin Lemler studies education at the University of Cologne. She was born with a disability that prevents her from using the muscles that produce and control voice. But aided by a speech computer that she controls with her eyes, she can communicate - and even hold lectures.

Alternative and augmented communication, or AAC, is the term experts use for this kind of electronically supported communication. Tomorrow Today presents the student who is using her special condition professionally to help develop improved speech programs.
