The Private Banker Friedrich von Metzler

Friedrich von Metzler is not your typical investment banker: The bank he heads has been in his family for 11 generations and 333 years.

Most private banks have gone bankrupt or been bought out by big concerns. And the Metzler family, too, has had buy-out offers. But Friedrich von Metzler and his family have always declined. They regard their business as inseperable from the family, and that makes them resistant to outside influence. How does one survive in a field that is supposedly only viable for big companies? What kind of a family are the Metzlers? They gave our reporter Manuela Kasper-Claridge an unusual glimpse.
