Königstein Fortress sits atop a huge, rocky plateau that rises 240 meters above the River Elbe. It’s one of the largest fortresses in Europe, and one of the most secure: it was never captured by its enemies. The fortress is crisscrossed by a labyrinth of cellars, passages and dungeons. We take a look behind the meter-thick walls with their fascinating history.
