"Messages using the sense of smell create a much more direct impact than visual ones," says Robert Müller-Grünow. "They affect the customer's mood." His company is called scentcommunication.

He produces items businesses can use to make their rooms and offices smell nice. The Swissôtel in Berlin keeps a scent cartridge in its air conditioning system. The aroma then serves as an olfactory reminder of the place.
