The State of Education in Germany

Ten years ago Germany was shocked by the findings of the OECD'S first Programme for International Student Assessment, also known as PISA.

Germany's education system, it turned out, was nowhere near top of the class. A lot has changed since then. Education minister Annette Schavan says more funds than ever before have been assigned to research and teaching.
