The Yazidis - Life After the Genocide
June 10, 2025
Four siblings who survived this genocide tell of violence and captivity, but also of courage and new beginnings.
August 2024 marked the tenth anniversary of the IS genocide against the Yazidis. The terrorist militia tried to wipe out the religious minority in 2014.
The film follows four siblings of Yazidi origin who sought refuge in Germany after the events in Iraq.
Their personal stories provide deep insights into the traumas they suffered and their struggle for a new life.
Between hope for return, the longing for peace, the fight for justice and the celebration of life, the film also deals with the essence of being human: the urge for freedom and autonomy, and the importance of individual dignity.
