At this university in western Germany, a small dog is helping students cope with stress in their everyday lives. Spending time with animals has been shown to help people relax and concentrate.

At the State Library Center in Koblenz, Germany, students are finding relief from academic stress through sessions with Little Joe, a trained therapy dog. Amid rising pressure and living costs, cuddling and playing with the dog helps improve mental well-being. Student Lorena Baier says the breaks help her relax, while research from South Korea confirms that interaction with dogs boosts relaxation and focus. The initiative also benefits Little Joe, who enjoys treats and attention.
