A former pet-only drug is now showing powerful results in humans — and could transform millions of lives. Why did it take 20 years to get here?

Emodepside, a veterinary deworming drug, is being tested in humans for the first time, raising hopes in the fight against whipworm infections that affect millions worldwide. For this report DW went to the island of Pemba, Tanzania. In India, climate change and drought are leaving farmers isolated and without marriage prospects. In Libya, volunteers are protecting endangered sea turtles from pollution, vehicles and habitat loss.
