With rhetoric between US and Russian officials escalating, the situation in eastern Ukraine is resembling more and more a kind of tug of war. A Ukrainian military operation by the Kyiv government is currently underway in a bid to oust pro-Russian separatists who have occupied government buildings in a number of eastern Ukrainian cities. Roman Goncharenko, of DW's Russian service, tells Inside Europe that this is Kyiv's last chance to keep the territory.
