Large parts of southwest Berlin are still in the dark after a suspected arson attack triggered a power outage. Daily life has been disrupted for tens of thousands of households as emergency crews work to restore power.

A fire at a cable bridge near Berlin's Lichterfelde power station triggered a major blackout, leaving around 50,000 households without electricity. Emergency shelters opened as residents sought warmth and information. A left‑wing extremist group claimed responsibility, though police are still investigating. Grid crews are working nonstop, with full power restoration expected by Thursday.
