Threepenny Opera at the Copacabana

In 1978, a Brazilian composer brought Bertolt Brecht's The Threepenny Opera to Rio de Janiero. His version, which he named the Ópera do Malandro — or Scoundre's Opera — was a challenge to the military dictatorship of the time. It's now being produced for the first time in Germany, and is as edgy, cynical and risque as ever before.
