He's been celebrated in New York for years. He's composed film scores for Steven Spielberg: Dortmund-born Theo Bleckmann. Twenty years ago he moved from Germany to the US. He creates eclectic sounds that span a range from electronic and new music to jazz and acoustic solos, and his work has earned him a Grammy nomination and an Echo award. His latest coup is a tribute to Kate Bush. Arts.21 visited Bleckmann in New York.
