Lahore, the capital of Pakistan's Punjab province, has been ranked the world's most polluted major city by a Swiss monitoring group. Authorities have been struggling to contain pollution and hazardous smog that has engulfed the town for several days.

Lahore is choking under thick smog caused by traffic, industrial emissions, and crop burning. With air quality among the worst globally, residents face serious health risks from toxic particles. Authorities have fined polluting vehicles and deployed anti-smog measures, but for the city's 14 million people, relief remains limited. Experts warn of long-term consequences as the pollution crisis deepens.
