Trump and the Middle East: Any role for Europe?

US President Trump is creating facts on the ground in the Middle East, and in so doing, offending allies: He has moved the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. And he has withdrawn from the Iran nuclear deal. How can Europe counter this? Guests: Nora Müller (Körber Foundation), Alan Posener (Die Welt), Shani Rozanes (DW).

Nora Müller is Executive Director International Affairs at the Koerber Foundation. She says: "After Trump's decisions in the Middle East, the Europeans must do damage control.”

Shani Rozanes, born in Israel, is a producer and Middle East Analyst with DW. She thinks: "Too divided and self involved, Europe is systematically failing to fill the void left by American Policy."

Alan Posener, Author for the German daily newspaper Die Welt says: "Europe and America are strong when they act together. When they don't, America is weakened and Europe becomes invisible."
