Trump authorizes CIA operations in Venezuela

US President Donald Trump has given the CIA permission to prepare covert operations against Venezuela's government. The announcement follows several US naval raids on Venezuelan vessels in the Caribbean suspected of carrying drugs.

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he has authorized the CIA to carry out covert operations against the government of Venezuela.

Citing allegations of drug trafficking and illegal immigration, Trump avoided commenting on a possible regime change.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has condemned any US intervention.
