Donald Trump has extended his deadline for striking Iranian energy plants. The US president says that Iran will now have until April 6 to open the Strait of Hormuz or face even more US military force.

President Donald Trump has extended the deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to April 6 as the United States is ecalating pressure on Iran, sending more paratroopers and warships to the Gulf. 

Iran however warns that any US incursion will be costly and threatens to close another key shipping lane, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, with Yemen's Houthis signaling readiness to join the fight.
