As Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin prepare to meet in Alaska on August 15, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has insisted that any negotiations on the future of his country must include Ukrainian representatives.

Kyiv's Independence Square has become an unofficial memorial for fallen Ukrainian soldiers, reflecting deep national resistance to territorial concessions amid Russia's invasion.

Grieving families and citizens have rejected recent comments by US President Donald Trump suggesting Ukraine may need to cede land for peace. On Saturday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy insisted peace cannot come at the cost of sovereignty.

While most Ukrainians oppose giving up territory, a growing minority is driven by personal loss and open to compromise to end the war.
