US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed on a bilateral meeting in Alaska to discuss the end of the war in Ukraine. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already warned that any deal excluding Kyiv would go nowhere.

Alaska, once Russian territory before being sold to the US in 1867, will host the summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss ending the war in Ukraine. Trump announced the August 15 meeting on Truth Social, suggesting a peace deal could involve "swapping" territories between Russia and Ukraine for the "betterment of both." Critics warn this could legitimize Russian occupation and sideline Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also made clear: "Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier."
