A California man accused of storming the White House correspondents' gala attended by President Donald Trump is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. He faces charges of attempting to kill a federal officer. The motive remains unclear.

Security was breached at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner when a suspect fired a shotgun at a Secret Service agent before being tackled and arrested. US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were rushed out.

The suspect, a 31‑year‑old man from California, was carrying multiple weapons and faces federal charges, including assault and attempted killing of a federal officer.

Trump told CBS the detainee, who allegedly wrote an anti‑Christian manifesto, was psychologically unwell. FBI agents searched his home as neighbors voiced shock. The incident highlights ongoing political violence in the US.
