Trump's bailout push for Milei sways Argentina's politics

Argentine President Javier Milei hailed his libertarian party's sweeping midterm win, fueled by voter frustration over the economy. The victory could prove crucial in unlocking a $20 billion US aid package backed by his ally Donald Trump.

Despite low turnout in Sunday's election, voters Monte Grande, a suburb in Buenos Aires, Argentina, have swung from the Peronist opposition to President Javier Milei's La Libertad Avanza.

Until recently, Milei's footing seemed uncertain, but voters' economic anxiety and the prospect of a $20 billion US bailout tied to his success have helped shift momentum in his favor.
