TT Germany-Israel: German politicians know about the special historic responsibility for Israel

Welcome Back. The German and Israeli governments are holding their first ever joint cabinet meeting in Germany today. It follows on from a similar session that was held in Israel in March 2008 when the two countries agreed to work on a range of projects. These meetings are highly symbolic - and reflect attempts to maintain the special relationship between the two countries linked by the horrors of the Second World War. 6 million Jews were murdered by the German Nazi regime. This has placed a special historic responsibility on Germany in its relations with Israel.
