The tax evasion scandal surrounding Deutsche Post CEO Klaus Zumwinkel that broke last Thursday has added fuel to the fire: politicians have joined commentators in questioning the moral fibre of managers and suggesting that their lack of ethics is threatening the fabric of society: if billionaires pocket what, in effect, belongs to their fellow citizens, then how are they to persuade normal workers that the taxes they pay are justified.
