Turkey has shot down a Syrian warplane which Ankara says violated its airspace. A Turkish fighter jet fired a rocket at the plane near the border between the two countries, after the Syrian aircraft ignored several warnings to turn back. The plane crashed just over a kilometer inside Syrian territory in the province of Latakia.
