A court has rejected an appeal by ‌Turkey's main opposition party against a ruling to oust its leader. The ousting of ‌CHP leader Ozgur Ozel removes one of President Erdogan's main political challengers.

Turkey's main opposition CHP is facing turmoil after a court annulled its 2023 congress, effectively removing leader Ozgur Ozel and reinstating his predecessor Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

Ozel rejected the ruling, calling it a "judicial coup" and vowing to stay in office.

The decision has sparked protests in Ankara, with critics accusing President Erdogan's government of undermining democracy and tightening its grip on power.
