Two days after another inconclusive regional election in Germany, established political parties are still assessing new alliances: The Christian Democrats continue to woo the Greens for a coalition in Hamburg. And it's becoming increasingly likely that the Left Party, which has its roots in the former East German communist party, will back a minority government of Social Democrats and Greens in the south-western state of Hessen. The SPD has made it clear that it's priority is to oust conservative State Premier Roland Koch
