Mainland China is bracing for Super Typhoon Ragasa, after the powerful storm caused widespread destruction across the region. In Taiwan, at least 14 people have died in flooding triggered by the cyclone.

Typhoon Ragasa is barreling toward southern China and Hong Kong with sustained winds of 200 km/h — making it the strongest tropical cyclone globally this year. Panic buying and emergency preparations are underway as the region braces for impact.

The storm has already left a trail of destruction in the Philippines and Taiwan, where floods have claimed lives and damaged infrastructure.
