457 British military personnel were killed during the UK's 20-year campaign in Afghanistan. Many more were injured or suffer ongoing trauma. For those who served or lost comrades, watching the news over the past few weeks has been especially painful. But a refugee aid project is giving some of them a sense of purpose again.
