UK police renew search for 'Bridge' jogger
August 12, 2017Police dismissed charges Saturday against a man suspected of shoving a woman in front of an oncoming bus on a London bridge.
The 41-year-old American investment banker, originally reported as being 50-years-old, who was arrested Thursday, is no longer a suspect in the incident, which occurred back in May.
The Metropolitan Police said the man they arrested has been "eliminated from the investigation."
His lawyers released a statement, after their client was cleared, saying the man could prove he was in the US when the incident occurred on May 5.
After a futile three-month investigation, police released video footage of the incident on London's Putney Bridge. The footage shows a large male jogger knocking over the woman into the path of one of London's famed-red-double-decker buses.
The woman escaped with only minor injuries as the bus abruptly swerved to avoid hitting her.
About 15 minutes later the jogger then returned from the opposite direction and continued jogging when the woman tried to speak to him. Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses, saying their "inquiries continue."
The video sparked worldwide outrage after being posted online.
Police described the jogger as a white man in his 30s with brown eyes and short brown hair.
