A Russian missile has struck an apartment block in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv. One man was killed, and residents were forced to flee through heavy smoke.

Survivors described shattered homes, choking fumes and desperate escapes as firefighters battled the blaze.

Many said they no longer feel safe, yet refuse to surrender, insisting Ukraine must keep defending itself as the war with Russia nears its fourth year.
