En route to Florida for talks with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, on ending the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stopped to meet Canada's prime minister. Mark Carney pledged $1.8 billion in economic aid.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a brief stop in Canada ahead of talks with his US counterpart,Donald Trump, meeting Prime Minister Mark Carney to secure support.

Carney pledged 2.5 billion Canadian dollars ($1.8 billion US) in economic aid and reaffirmed military assistance, stressing the need for Russia's willingness to achieve lasting peace.

Zelenskyy accused Putin of fearing negotiations, calling for pressure on Moscow and strong backing for Ukraine.
