UN human rights chief warns Iran: Repression must stop

UN Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said the United Nations is documenting reported crackdowns in Iran remotely, using witness testimony and video evidence.
He said the reports describe brutal repression, including mass detentions, internet and communications shutdowns, and threats of executions, with the death toll possibly in the thousands during the recent anti-government protests in Iran.
