UN: More than 190 nations agree landmark biopiracy treaty

It has become common practice for corporations to use patents to lock up the natural resources and traditional knowledge of Indigenous peoples — without regard for the origins. For the first time, a UN treaty will provide a legal framework to combat this kind of exploitation known as "biopiracy."
