The UN Security Council has voted to impose new sanctions on Iran. It's the third round of sanctions put in place because of Iran's refusal to stop enriching uranium - a process which can be used to run atomic power plants or to build nuclear weapons. Iran has declared the sanctions a violation of international law weakening the security council's credibility.impose new sanctions on Iran
