For the sixth time in succession, the Ifo index -- which measures the business climate in Germany -- has fallen and the prospects of growth for companies are poor.

The European Commission even refers to Germany, the economic engine of the EU, as being on the brink of a recession. For the first time in two years, the Ifo business climate index has the country’s mechanical engineers slipping into the negative zone.
