The United States and Iran traded attacks for a second consecutive night. The US targeted sites in southern Iran, qualifying the strikes as "self-defense." Iran fired back, hitting US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.

The United States has carried out targeted strikes on Iranian military sites, including air defense systems, in retaliation for the downing of a US Apache helicopter.

President Donald Trump said the action aims to pressure Tehran in stalled negotiations, not trigger a wider war.

Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on US bases across the region, forcing airspace closures and causing damage in neighboring countries, raising fears of further escalation.
