A lasting US Iran peace remains elusive. Tehran's latest proposal awaits a response from the White House as Donald Trump shows himself unsatisfied. As tensions linger, global trade continues to feel the fallout.

Nearly nine weeks have passed since tankers began waiting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, and the wait continues as US-Iran tensions persist despite a tentative ceasefire.

Washington accuses Tehran of using the blockade to pressure the global economy, while Iran blames the United States for the disruption to shipping.

The standoff has affected global oil supply chains, and shipbrokers say it could take until September to clear the backlog.
