US-led talks on Russia's war in Ukraine continue into 2026

The United States is expected to host a meeting with Ukraine and EU leaders early in 2026. A coalition of Ukraine's allies will gather in Paris. But with no sign of the fighting slowing down, is peace anywhere near?

Ukraine's chances for a peace deal in 2026 remain slim. Despite optimistic talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, Russia has rejected a ceasefire and demands elections that Kyiv cannot hold under martial law.

US pressure for Ukrainian concessions, the European Union's limited leverage and disputed territorial terms have further stalled progress. Experts say Moscow lacks incentives to end the war.
