US marines and Afghan forces have launched a major attack on a Taliban stronghold in southern Afghanistan. The offensive -- described as the biggest since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan back in 2001 -- is focussed on the town of MARJAH. In another development, three US soldiers have been reported killed in an improvised bomb attack elsewhere in southern Afghanistan.
